We’re keeping it local this week and visiting Poole. Speedy Travels round Dorset quite a bit as well as travelling nationwide. Last Speedy Travels took us to Bournemouth, where we collect a lot of parcels from the local businesses there. Just on the border of Bournemouth is Poole, a lovely coastal town twinned with Cherbourg in France.
Poole is a large town located in the county of Dorset. Situated 21 miles to the East of Dorchester this lovely town is a huge tourist resort with its large natural harbour, The Lighthouse Arts Centre and Blue Flag beaches.
Poole harbour is the largest natural harbour in Europe and is thought to be among some of the largest habours in the world. A bronze statue of Lord Baden-Powell takes pride of place on Poole Quay, seated as though round a camp fire facing Brownsea Island.
